Engraved Signs with Raster Braille
Engraved acrylic signs with Raster Braille are a cost-effective way to meet your signage needs. Available with or without frames, you may choose from panel signs or changeable, modular units. Our wide variety of standard sizes and colors will provide your customers with an attractive, yet economical, braille sign system. All our products comply with the stringent requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
"4.30.4* Raised and Brailled Characters and Pictorial Symbol Signs (Pictograms). Letters and numerals shall be raised 1/32 in, upper case, sans serif or simple serif type and shall be accompanied with Grade 2 Braille. Raised characters shall be at least 5/8 in (16 mm) high, but no higher than 2 in (50 mm). Pictograms shall be accompanied by the equivalent verbal description placed directly below the pictogram. The border dimension of the pictogram shall be 6 in (152 mm) minimum in height."

Here's a close up example of Raster Braille. The braille beads are clear allowing them to take on the color of the background of the signage minimizing the visual impact of the design but meeting all of the ADA's requirements in a sign.

Here's a close up example of engraved braille sign. Engraving the braille gives a harsher visual impact and is most times not acceptable but we can produce signs that meet the ADA's requirement with either Raster Braille or engraved braille. |

Raster Method Braille signs help to give your signs compliance with the ADA requirements while giving you a clean and professional look. The Raster Method Braille is a method of taking a machined bead (Raster) and inserting it in a hole. The Raster is then held in place by a piece of acrylic that is tightly fit to the Raster.
